Alexandre Monzo-Fuentes

Currently developing new isolation and analysis techniques for glycoproteins and glycoconjugates by affinity enrichment, as well as, novel monolithic enzymatic reactors for high throughput proteomics. PhD Thesis at the Horváth Laboratory of Bioseparation Sciences (HLBS) University of Innsbruck, Austria. Alex got his MSc in Chemistry from the Carabobo University (Valencia Venezuela) as 3° in his promotion in 2001, with a thesis work at Pfizer Inc. After that, he worked as international associate in the Milamdec Foundation at Xavier University (Cagayan de Oro Philippines) in the field of natural products chemistry; and in the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department at the University Innsbruck, synthesizing novel peripheral opiates as potential analgesic drugs. Recently, Alex visited the Barnett Institute (Northeastern University, Boston MA) for 4 months as a part of a new MS based quantitative proteomics project. This project is being further developed in Innsbruck (HLBS) as part of the long cooperation tradition between Dr. Karger director of the Barnett Institute and Dr. Guttman head of the HLBS.
